Short introduction
Chemical technology department has two main research units: one in clean and green fuels and the other in chemical energy conversion. Thus, most of the research activities in the programs are focused on developing new fuels from local resources and on developing new processes for converting chemical energy to thermal or electrical power. Currently the activities are in the areas of synthetic fuels. fuel cell, and combustion. Each area has faculty members of 4-6 involved and graduate students of 10-15. The programs carry out research activities in the areas of environmental technology and natural rubber technology.

Key research areas:
Synthetic fuel, PEM Fuel cell, Circulating fludizied bed combustor, Gasification, Natural Rubber. |
Research collaborations
The department has collaborated with a number of universities in North America, Europe, and Asia. In North America, the institutes are Department of chemical engineering at university of Washington in Seattle, Department of Energy and GeoEnvironmental Engineering, Pennsylvania State University, and Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Waterloo, CANADA. In Europe, the department has long collaborated with the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse, France and we have just collaborated with the School of Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering, University of Leeds, UK. The program also has a strong collaboration with Department of Chemical System Engineering, The University of Tokyo. Toyama University in Japan. |
